Safe adds a protective margin around each 4:5 tile before export. Exact keeps the preview pieces clean, but profile crops can still trim edge content.
Use Safe when content sits near edges
Safe is better for faces, text, logos, and product details because Instagram profile cropping trims the margin before it reaches important content.
Use Exact for clean puzzle pieces
Exact exports the same pieces you see in the preview with no extra margin, which is cleaner for seamless grids but less protected after posting.
